Your Calling
The term your calling may sound a little bit etheral, in essence, what I am asking you here is… “What Were You Meant To Do With This Precious Life Of Yours?” What is your life purpose?
Heavy! Now that cuts right to the bone doesn’t it? That question pulls no punches at all! This is it, this is where you stand and face yourself.
Life Purpose
Same sketch, write down your thoughts, but not the “grand scheme of things” type answers. Personal answers that mean something to you. Answers that relate to what you want, where you want your career to go, both job and life. A word of warning on this one, not a lot of people really, honestly sit down and think about the questions I am going to ask here! You may find this extremely difficult, but persevere, it will be well worth it. Here goes:-
- What is your destination?
- What were you meant to be?
- What were you supposed to accomplish during your lifetime?
- What is the purpose of your life?
Your Calling Is Calling
A further warning here. You are likely to look quite introspectively at this point. Try not to, this is not designed for you to sit in judgement on your past, you really must look to the future, and, you should certainly be looking for situations that make you happy! You may need to really look deep into yourself and peel back years of programming that isn’t necessarily positive or indeed in your best interests. This is about YOU getting in touch with what YOU are truly “all about”.
In closing this section on desires and needs, you might ask what is the point to all this? Simply, it is to clarify your desires and needs in a way that you can understand them, and then, being able to understand them, to use that understanding as a launching pad for a new or enhanced career. Desire or need is the strongest motivating force I know. If you discover your inner most desires, nothing will stop you from attaining the highest job and career goals you could possibly imagine!
Of course, you can also use this method to achieve other great things in your personal life. The method is the same whatever the goal but is vitally important with your calling. Knowing what your calling is will give your entire life focus and meaning. With the focus you achieve, you will be able to move forward with the confidence that your desires and needs have created the necessary power within you to achieve what you want.
