Job Search Diary
Some people may find the next item a little patronising, sorry if it gets you that way, but here goes anyway. You need a job search diary. Obvious, I know, but any calls or appointments simply must be logged in your diary. Again you can use Outlook (or similar software), your mobile but you need to have something that you can keep with you and refer to it constantly during your campaign. If you’re Blackberry savvy – great.
Job Search Diary – Vital
It is very embarrassing to double book yourself, and is nearly always fatal to the application if you cancel an interview. Still worse, of course, is forgetting to turn up at all! I can hear you laughing, but after twenty years in recruitment, believe me it happens – regularly!
Job Search Tips
Other minor supplies that help oil the campaign include;-
- A stapler and staples.
- Paper clips.
- A ruler and/or scissors (for cutting adverts).
- Sellotape
- File thirteen (that’s a waste bin).
- Stamps
- Envelopes
Some of this may all seem a little simplistic, maybe even unimportant, however, please be assured of one thing, job search is a pressure business – yes it is a business. Every little thing that makes the process run that little bit more smoothly helps. As soon as you start misplacing things (anything), you put yourself under unnecessary pressure. That in turn decreases your effectiveness and ability to perform. Just think back to the last time you couldn’t find a stamp! How frustrating, energy draining, annoying and downright time wasting was the experience?
Take time to get organised at the start of your job search campaign, it will reap major benefits once your campaign bandwagon really starts to roll!!!
