Job Application – Ad Response

Job Application – Ad Response

In this situation you will have a very good idea of the skills and attributes that are required for the role for your job application.  By reading the advert (carefully) you will be able to ascertain what skills are required and be able to highlight relevant points accordingly in your covering letter/email.  Again, keep it brief, light and to the point.  Certainly no longer than one page of A4 or what can comfortably be seen on one screen, and ideally three paragraphs.  Seek to affirm you have the skills and personal qualities the company says they are looking for.  If you can highlight a brief example, or specific areas of your attached CV, so much the better.

Job Application – Replying to A Specific Advert

Reference/ Job Title:  Quote if applicable

Dear Mr Bloggs,

I write with regard to the above reference, as advertised in last Thursday’s edition of The Times.  Accordingly, please find enclosed a copy of my current CV by way of application.

You then need to insert some specific skills and abilities that show your application is relevant, to “pull” the reader into your full CV.

At the start of the letter you need some sort of hook to catch the attention of the reader.  In this example, it is easy as this is in response to a specific advert.

Yours sincerely

Derek Armson

This is nice and neat, short and concise and will get your job application off on the right foot.
