Due to my in depth knowledge of completing major company tenders, I was successful in securing the business of three major new clients in the last twelve months.  This resulted in an increase of some £3 million on annual turnover.

I developed an in-house sales training course, which was implemented company wide. The new skills developed by the sales force resulted in a 33% increase in unit sales during 2006.

Due to an increased number of calls, and the more efficient territory planning  implemented, I increased my 2006 sales by 39% over 2005.  This resulted in an increase in profitability of over £250,000.

Hopefully you get the idea, and can work your accomplishments into your own CV.  So, to re-cap, getting your achievements into your CV is vitally important.  It is what sells you to a prospective employer.  Leave them out, and you will be left out, along with the rest of the rubbish bin!  I have taken time over this section, and put it first, because it is the most important aspect of your CV to get right.  To a certain degree you can get away with some other slight misdemeanours if the content is of high quality.  So, make sure you get those achievements in.

What Is A CV?

If this is still giving you trouble, here is something that will help.  The following are ways to start sentences that will naturally lead into an accomplishment.  I mean, how easy do I have to make this for you?  So, all you have to do is put one of these at the start of your sentence, and it will naturally end with an achievement, what could be easier?  Here we go;-

  • I organised
  • I created
  • I developed
  • I streamlined
  • I improved
  • I Implemented
  • I saved
  • I increased
  • I decreased
  • I totally revamped
  • I structured
  • I re-structured
  • I revitalised
  • I established
  • I helped

Do you see?  Once you have inserted whatever it was you did, if you then add the benefit that arose, you supercharge your CV.

Here’s an example;-

I improved ( the lead in ) the efficiency of the psychometric testing (what you actually did, the accomplishment) which resulted in staff turnover falling from 26% to under 5% (the benefit). Potential employers will absolutely love reading a CV like this and you will get called for interview!

Do you see how that makes what is CV content so much more interesting to a potential employer.  Do you see how much more likely your CV is to get picked from the rest by using this simple technique of adding accomplishments?
