A CV Example

So, before I give you a CV example to mull over, just a few final thoughts on the subject.  If you think about it, the main purpose of a CV is to get you through the door for an interview.  Having got you the interview, obviously it is then up to you to perform.

However, the CV needs to have three basic ingredients to get you that interview offer.  These ingredients are as follows:

  1. The CV should clearly show that you have always contributed in a positive fashion to whatever job you have been doing.
  2. It should also demonstrate your organisation, goal-   orientation and that you are ambitious.
  3. Finally, the CV should get over an image to the person reading it that says “you have got to interview me to find out more”.

It is these three vital factors that put the necessary “sell” into your CV.  If you get all of these elements into your curriculum vitae, you will create a positive effect on the reader, and you are much more likely to get called for interview.  Many CVs that I see do not have these ingredients, so simply by following the rules laid out in this chapter, you will put yourself ahead of, probably about 60%, of the opposition.  Not a bad place to be, eh?

Research (from the USA) indicates that if you include relevant work experience with accomplishments, and put together an organised CV in an attractive format, it does get you noticed.  The overall message – YOUR CV COUNTS – make sure it is right!
